General Aifos

I was utterly disappointed last night and completely embarrassed. At first, all I could think of was my poorly displayed battle skills under the eyes of THE General Aifos. Turns out, he's been playing with Time and has lost all of his memories!

Six short months ago, he was drilling me in survival techniques, brilliant battle strategies and merciless war training. Even Vivex stood proudly at attention when he saw General Aifos.

I think disillusioned is what I'm feeling for this insecure, paltry elf-blooded man. It's embarrassing to witness how the mighty have fallen.

Wait---his last words to me was that I will face tests along my journey. I think he's testing me and my knowledge! That's why he's pretending to be ignorant. He's checking to see that I've learned and applied his life lessons! Oh! And to stay humble and not look down on someone for ignorance that just needs teaching like I did!

Now it all makes perfect sense. He's here for me to help and instruct him as fully as he did me when I started training to prove that I have learned all he's taught me. I will not fail him!

First Night

So, after the battle, I asked the blond wench if she needed help but the snooty thing didn't even answer me! No wonder she can't get a husband!

Nyza introduced herself and T'Krosh and complimented me. She seemed a little unsure about me but she was polite. Her speech mannerisms are well, cute. Sparta welcomed me and introduced me to the rest of the group and his woman, Dale. I definitely want to earn the respect of him and his mate.

Then I see this Teton beauty, Wintersky. I mean typical Teton woman with the coloring, poise and demeanor. She had the commanding look of a general that only Teton women seem to manage so easily. The second she talked to me, I was feeling like a schoolboy trying to impress his teacher! Vivex was checking out her mare, so of course, he wanted to show off for her. I can totally understand that!

Suddenly, I was surrounded by thousands of tiny bugs--but they turned out to be fey! I remembered my teachings and sat as still as possible.

'When surrounded by many that are smaller than you, be still and harm none, so they do not hurt themselves.' My mother had said that to me a thousand times and now it served me well.

Oh and guess who I saw again--LongSpear! I've never met anyone better with horses; but don't tell him that! His ego is more than large enough to fill a metropolis! No big surprise that the Teton woman turns out to be his sister. I had to stop Vivex from taking a bite of his horse, but then again, that's Vivex. Wintersky put LongSpear in his place, right quick and I couldn't help but laugh at that.

Later, Nyza actually mentioned eating horses! I had to remind myself strongly to control my temper, but it wasn't easy.

That night we had a great feast! Yet another reason, I like the Tetons. Their peace and wisdom really helped me and Vivex on our journey. When they pointed out that Vivex would roast under the hot plains in full equine armor, I was embarrassed but infinitely grateful. Anyone that puts their horse first is good people in my book.

I left the ceremonial offering of food and then fed Vivex. The only beast in this land that matches my appetite is Vivex--I'm so proud of him! I noticed Wintersky watching me and I can't help but wonder what she was thinking. Anyway, it was a feast, so of course, I ate good!

After I stuffed my gut, I checked that everyone was occupied.

Vivex nickered and I went to him. We went through our nightly ritual of grooming and talk. For all that he can't talk, I think Vivex is the only living creature that truly understands me. He was always big for his age-like me, ate more than the others-like me, lost his temper fast-like me, scares others with his sheer size-like me, and most of all, just wants a mutual friend that understands him-like me.

Me and Vivex saw that snooty blond wench flying around like a butterfly against the backdrop of the moon. I know Vivex wanted to challenge Galitae, but like that snooty blond who hasn't said a single word to me, they're way out of our reach. Which is just fine with me. As long as I have Vivex and he has me, we're good.

First Day

We just passed the first suns with a new group. When General Aifos commanded me to find 'a worthy group of heroes,' I had no idea just how motley this group would be! All the males here are human except T'Krosh the Kobold. He's such a tiny, dainty little thing, that Vivex almost squashed him like a bug! I hope we didn't offend them. There's also Nyza, a tiny flaming little Kobold female. I of course gave them both proper respect as near-dragon kin. I'd never seen their kind up close before, aside from the ones running from the cave. Apparently they've had a bad experience with dragons. I'm going to make it one of my personal missions to gain T'krosh's trust in myself and dragon-kind in general. Me and Vivex met 2 tiny halflings that seem mated, Sparta and Dale. Although he was a halfling, he greeted me forthright and respectfully, and held his own in battle.

Me and Sparta were wondering what was in the cave and a bard, Oli-something came out and started asking about it too. Then this gorgeous blond wench whips out a sword! I'm thinking, shouldn't she be wearing an apron and cooking supper?!

Out of nowhere, I'm jacked up with energy, so I think I got hit with lightning. I don't like that weird tingle up my spine, but lightning is a part of me, so I need to accept it. Of course Vivex reacted with his usual horse mentality--run! Talk about embarrassing! That cute wench was watching when he nearly ripped the reins out of my hands. She must've thought I was some kinda careless bonehead who doesn't know how to train his own horse!

Next thing I know, some enormous beast throws a tusk in my gut and I'm flying through the air like I grew wings! Thank Aifos, I landed on my feet. There were women on the battle field, so no way was I gonna crawl on the ground in pain! That hurt too--my gut was leaking blood like a drooling hell hound. Vivex is only courage trained against other horses or humans in battle, so I had to get him away from that thing. I'd rather of lost my own life, than needlessly risk his.

I think that halfling female did some magic thingy or other, and Oli looked like he was gonna wet himself!

Anyway, I got back to business and remembered there was a battle to be won. This guy, Legeand, just starts waling on the beast like a mad man! I saw that gleam in his eye and knew straight off, he's a loony beserker! Gotta watch out for their kind--their heads are screwed up so they have no real courage or fear--just all out crazy. They'd kill their own mother in a rage. Me and Vivex are gonna give him a lot of room...

So that monster, stomps me again and I'm gritting my teeth not to yell in pain. I mean, there are women right there! Thank Aifos, that T'Krosh healed me. Of course, not before insulting me. He actually asked if I associated with evil dragons! Talk about a lesson in anger control!

Then Sparta, the little halfling with a warrior's heart, just stays by my side, fighting that beast with all his might. He had a well made and well-used weapon too. I gotta admit I was impressed with his courage in combat. I think we're gonna be pretty good friends. That beast stomped us like grapes a half dozen times, and Sparta, man, he just took it without a word of complaint. I think that's a good warrior in anyone's book!

So Nyza, drops a tickle of magic and that monolithic monster, just drops like a stone! That's my dragon-kin! Then, even though the battle is over, that nutter just flips out and wants to attack the rest of the group. Never turn your back on that kind, and never ever trust them for a second!

After all of that crazy on bread, the cute blond wench is fluttering around on a Pegasus! I can tell ya, me and Vivex were thinking the same thing when we saw them,'I'd mount that!'
