After a few more days of rest, our group was delivered a letter from the Gaedracis Pejorative - the big boss! Suffice it to say, after much confusion, we realized that the letter was a riddle telling us how to weaken the bandit lord. Why he would tell us that, I'm not sure. Maybe he was too sure of himself, and he wanted to flaunt his superiority over us? I don't think I'll ever find out for sure.
We tracked the Gaedracis down to some ruins with a belltower about 10 miles east of Rebelton. Following the riddle, we had to do a few specific things.
1. I opened the door to the tower using a wand of the Knock spell.
2. Mask dispelled some flying pieces of wood that I set on fire (grr, I don't know how to use that spellbook-magic yet).
3. Wintersky banged loudly on the bell with a mace.
4. Legeand EXPLODED the Gaedracis by stabbing him with a spike.
Needless to say, the last step was the most crucial. I wonder if the other three were even necessary? Exploding people is a fast way to end a fight.
Now that the bandit threat in Tanglewood is, well, completely over, I want to go visit the Sha'Tek for awhile. I'm afraid of what everyone thinks of me, since I left so suddenly. Do my kin think I'm a traitor? Does Boss Varnil want to hunt me down and kill me? Will they even let me back in to the tribe?! I need to go sort these things out before it's too late. And, if I'm lucky, maybe I can convince a few kobolds to venture out of town and see that (not all of) the softskins are not so bad as we think.
